View 01 - Contents of commercial laserdisk player optical pick-up:
(top/left-closkwise) 780 nm 4 mw diode and power driver board, optics and
tracking galvos for beam delivery, photo power cell (power meter),
electromagnetic focus optic, colimating lens, high reflector mirror,
80/20 prism/cube beamsplitter.

View 03 - Complete optical deck and laser power supply from an older
Sony Laserdisc (video) player. Unlike modern LD players which used diode
lasers, this one uses a HeNe laser. The laser is powered and the path of the
beam is can be seen starting at the right-end of the HeNe tube and exiting
from the objective lens in the upper center of the photo (visible as the red
glow on the lens).

View 04 - Closeup of the optical deck. The laser tube is a Toshiba
LG-3217 and is approximately 9.75 inches long. Note all glass construction
(non-adjustable mirrors) and internal Brewster window to produce polarized
beam. Assembly also contains a beam splitter, several fixed mirrors, a
electronically movable mirror and a lens plus motors and other electronics.

View 05 - Lower electronics deck (underside) of another HeNe laser-based
LaserDisc player. The optical pickup is about 5"x12"x2" and moves on
roller bearing slides for coarse tracking across the disc. The transformer
for both the low voltage and high voltage power supplies is at the lower
left with the LV regulator PCB above it and the HeNe laser power supply
HV PCB on its right. The fan blades are on the main spindle motor shaft.
I'm not sure of the exact model of this LD player but it may be an LD-1100.
